Your perfect South African horse riding trip: Wildlife, mountains and beach

Combine wildlife, bush, mountains, and beach in Hooves Around The World's new 10 day South African adventure. Horse riding with lions and other wild animals, climbing mountains on local Basotho ponies in the Drakensberg, and galloping over never ending beaches on the Wild Coast. Horseback riding in South Africa truly allows you to see the best of South Africa's nature and wildlife.

Price: 3495 EUR per person sharing

Airports: Arrival at OR Tambo, shuttle departs from the airport or your hotel at 10am
Leave from East London airport, shuttle leaves in accordance with your flights 

Including: Accommodation, horse riding, meals, soft drinks, private driver, experienced tour guides

Excluding: Flights, insurance, tips, alcoholic drinks

Experience level: strong intermediate to experienced riders only (non-riders are welcome, contact me for details)

Itinerary (flexible to your wishes)

Day 1
Our private tour guide and driver will pick all adventure-goers up from OR Tambo International Airport or your hotel in Johannesburg at 10am.

Day 1 to 4
Make your way to the horse safari company by car, the drive will take 3 to 4 hours from the airport. Here we will experience a 3 day horse safari through a reserve with lions, buffalo, cheetah, giraffe and so much more incredible wildlife. Accommodation will be in a beautiful lodge on the reserve, in luxury safari tents overlooking the river. 

Day 4 to 7
We now make our way down on the N11, a beautiful mountain pass road that winds through fabulous scenery, all the way to a little place called Underberg. This drive will take 6 to 8 hours depending on traffic, with more than enough stops to buy snacks, and enjoy the scenery of the N11. In Underberg we’ll be riding local Basotho ponies and Boerperd through the impressive Drakensberg mountains. These rides will be personally guided by Sanne from Hooves Around The World. Our accommodation will be a 22 sleeper dorm style log cabin, with a fire place, kitchen, and the most incredible views. Enjoy drinks by the fire, we will make a braai and bonfire outside and eat local food. For some meals we will be going out at the local restaurants and pubs.

Day 7 to 10
Another beautiful day drive with lots of stops along the way, down to the Wild Coast. This drive will take 5 to 7 hours depending on traffic, and ends in Kei Mouth. The Wild Coast boasts a unique ecosystem and landscape that you won't find anywhere else in the world. Here we will get ready for 3 incredible days of fast-paced beach riding. We’ll do several full day rides over the beach and cliff tops of Morgan Bay and Kei Mouth, and a short ride to end our 10 days of exploring the wilds of South Africa. 

Day 10
‍In accordance with everyone’s flights, our private driver will drop all explorers off at East London airport for your flights back home or to explore the rest of the country.
